A resource is something like a GroupWise user without and NDS account.  You can treat it as any other email user.  But it's primary use is that of something that other users may have access to, usually for calendar events.  It can be included in meetings or used simply to provide a large number of people with access to dates and times of specific events.

A resource is assigned a GroupWise user as an owner.  This person has full proxy rights that can't be taken away unless you change the owner.  The owner can then assign whatever proxy rights are required to other users.  They can also create rules for the resource to determine it's behavior whenever someone either sends it mail or includes it in a meeting.

To create a resource:

bulletRight click the container in which the resource will reside, usually the PO container within the campus container
bulletClick Create

bulletEnter the information as above, the name of the resource, the post offict to which it belongs and the owner.  The owner is selected in the same manner as a Distribution List is selected.  One restriction, the owner of the resource must be in the same post office as the resource itself.  The owner can be changed but the resource, because of this limitation, cannot be moved to another post office.
bulletClick the Create button

bulletWhile still in the Identifcation tab, select the dropdown in the Resource Type field and change the type from Resource to Place if necessary.
bulletYou may also include the resource in distribution lists as you would a regular user.   This comes in handy when you have a collection of people whom you schedule regularly and you wish to include a room or other resource as a matter of regularity.   Nicknames can also be assigned, though a judicious choice of IDs.
bulletClick OK to finish.
