10-15-1998 Fix for Windows 98 problem with Office 97 Professional and Access 97. ( note: see articles 141373 and 191224 for REGEDIT and EXE patches ) Error message occurs when attempting to run Access 97: "Microsoft Access can't start because there is no license for it on this machine." ( 1) Run REGEDIT ( 2) Expand: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT ( 3) Scroll down to and hi-lite the folder: Licenses ( 4) Select the option: Edit -> New -> Key (a) Type in the following folder name [all upper case]: 8CC49940-3146-11CF-97A1-00AA00424A9F ( 5) Hi-Lite the new folder created in step 4. ( 6) Select the option: Edit -> New -> Key (a) Type in the following sub-folder name [ case sensitive ]: Retail ( 7) Hi-Lite the new sub-folder created in step 6. ( 8) In the right-side window: (a) the Name: (Default) (b) Select the option: Modify (c) Type in the following for the Value Data [ all lower case]: yubcdcprktpjtapmmfdacmupasbhscddncgp ( 9) Select the option: OK (10) Close out REGEDIT saving the changes.
